A Magical Return to Lenzerheide: Skiing, Friendship, and the Prospera Spirit
There are moments in life when everything aligns—past, present, and future—creating an experience that feels almost surreal. My recent trip to Lenzerheide, Switzerland, was one of those moments. It wasn’t just about skiing in the breathtaking Swiss Alps; it was about reconnecting with my past, sharing an unforgettable experience with my kids, and meeting an extraordinary person who embodies the beauty of human connection.
The adventure began in London, with my two kids, Kawa and Kiara, by my side. They had skied before, but not in a long time, so I was slightly concerned. Lenzerheide is no joke—it’s high, freezing, and challenging. But challenges are what make life exciting, right?
Excitement quickly turned into panic as we almost missed our flight to Zurich. The Uber driver got lost, the rain poured down relentlessly, and time slipped away too fast. Realizing that we wouldn’t make it, we made a dramatic call—we jumped out mid-journey and ran to the nearest train station. Five minutes before check-in closed, we arrived at the airport, hearts pounding, adrenaline pumping. We had made it—barely.
Arriving in Zurich, we were welcomed by someone I had never met in person before but already felt connected to: Lynn. We had crossed paths through Instagram, through my work, and instantly resonated with each other. There’s something magical about Brazilians abroad—no matter where you are in the world, they find a way to connect through energy and soul. And Lynn? She was incredible.
The next morning, we met for breakfast at our hotel. She didn’t just show up—she showed up fully prepared. She had skiing clothes in multiple sizes, ensuring that everyone—my sister, the kids, and I—had exactly what we needed. Who does that for someone they’ve never met before? Only someone with a truly generous heart.
With our gear ready, we embarked on the scenic drive from Zurich to Chur, and finally, to Lenzerheide. This place holds a special place in my heart—it was the first place I ever skied, 20 years ago. Stepping back onto those slopes was like revisiting an old friend, one that had been waiting for my return.
If there’s one thing I forgot in those 20 years, it’s how expensive skiing in Switzerland is. We rented our ski equipment at a very expensive shop (rookie mistake), which cost around 500 Swiss francs for two days for four people. Add the ski passes—another 450 francs—and we were already looking at 900 francs before even counting hotels, food, and everything else. But in the end, was it worth it? Absolutely.
Day one on the slopes was all about relearning. My kids hesitated at first, but slowly, their confidence grew. My sister, too, took on the challenge. It was one of those days where every fall was followed by laughter, and every small victory—like making it down the mountain without falling—was celebrated as if it were Olympic gold.
Of course, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to record some epic moments for Capitão Prospera. After all, what better place for a superhero of prosperity than the majestic Swiss Alps? As the sun set, we wrapped up the day with a quintessential Swiss meal—fondue. If you haven’t had melted cheese with bread on a cold night in Switzerland, you haven’t truly lived.
Sunday greeted us with snowfall, making for some incredible photos and an even more magical skiing experience. With sore legs but happy hearts, we packed up and made the long drive back to Zurich, where we spent the night before taking one last adventure—exploring Zurich’s historic city center. Walking through the streets of Zurich, I was struck by its timeless elegance, wealth, and prosperity. It’s a city that breathes success. It was the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable trip.
This trip was more than just a skiing getaway. It was a full-circle moment—returning to the place where I first learned to ski, now with my children. It was about the power of human connection, the kindness of people like Lynn, and the unbreakable bond of the Prospera Family. Through all the ups and downs—missed flights, cold weather, expensive ski shops—this trip was a reminder that experiences like these are priceless. They’re the ones that stay with us forever.
Would I do it all again? In a heartbeat.
